Mali’s President, Dioncounda Traore, was on Monday beaten mercilessly by hundreds of protesters who stormed his palace to demand his resignation. His condition after the attack is so bad that he was rushed to the hospital.
A spokesman for the soldiers behind a March 22 coup said the interim President’s close-protection officers killed three of the protesters, after which they gained access into the palace and even tore the clothes and pictures of President Traore.
“They beat him seriously and tore his clothes,” military spokesman Bakary Mariko told Reuters news agency… The serious security breach is now a subject of investigation by the country's security leadership.
