Finally : Moses Obi-Adigwe wins Nigerian Idol season 3

After six months of electrifying performances, surprise evictions, tough and thorough training, the third edition of Nigerian Idol the TV reality show has come to an end with 22-year-old Moses Obi-Adigwe declared as winner!

After an opening performance from season one winner Yeka Onka, the show started with the host Illrymz introducing the two final contestants Moses and Debbie Debbie Olu-Rise on stage.

The 10 other finalists joined them and they all performed together for the last time.

Then came solo performances from Debbie and Moses; Debbie performed Tiwa Savage‘s ‘Kele kele love’. Moses performed Bob Marley‘s ‘Redemption song’. They both received a mighty applause from the audience.

Also, immediate past winner of Nigerian Idol Mercy thrilled the audience with her performance.

D’banj made a surprise appearance on stage and performed his verse of Naeto C’s ‘Tony Montana’ remix, concluding his set with his own single ‘On top of the world’.

Other performances came from Nigerian Idol judge and Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti and his band, pop diva and former West African idol contestant Omawumi who gave a superlative performance of her ‘Bottom belle’ single and immediate past winner of Nigerian Idol season two, Mercy.

And the moment came, Illyrmz announced Moses as the winner!

Interestingly, Moses popularly called ‘Teddy Bear’ made his way to the Top 12 through the wild card selection.

Moses who’s the first male contestant to win the show, will now join Timi Dakolo (West Africa Idol, 2007), Yeka Onka (Nigerian Idol, 2011) and Mercy Chinwo (Nigerian Idol, 2012) in the league of Idols winners. And he goes home with the sum of 15M Naira and a brand new SUV.

Debbie, the runner-up walks away with sum of 1M and a KIA RIO automobile.

The show, recorded today at The Idols studios in Lagos, is expected to be broadcast tomorrow.

Vicci & Immaculate Victoria are 1st evictees from Nigerian Idol Top12

Just a week after the unveiling of the Top 12 contestants in the on-going Etisalat sponsored music reality TV show, Nigerian Idol Season 3, Immaculate Victoria and Vicci have been evicted during the first Gala Stage Result Show, bringing the competition down to 10 contestants.

Vicci, whose real name is Victor Chidiebere Ijomah, although sad said he is positive that he will ‘make it’ in the industry because according to him music has always been a part of his life. “All I just need is for someone to put me in the studio and I am so sure I will make it,” Vicci said.

But the case was not the same for Oreoluwa Liyele a.k.a Immaculate Victoria, the New Jersey University undergraduate who was too shocked to speak as tears ran freely down her cheeks.

Speaking after the show, Head, Events and Sponsorship, Etisalat Nigeria, Modupe Thani, commended Vicci and Immaculate Victoria for making it this far in the competition and urged them to take their eviction in good fate. “At this stage of the competition, eviction of any contestant does not make them any less good but it should be seen as an opportunity to develop their career. My advice to them is that they should go ahead and pursue their musical ambitions, notwithstanding”, she said.

An eviction party hosted for them at club DV8 in Victoria Island last Friday, February 22nd had only Vicci in attendance. Apparently Victoria was much too grieved to party with her former contestants.

The other 10 contestants left to compete for the star prize of N7.5 million cash, N7.5 million record contract and brand new SUV are; Safeeyat, Debie Rise, Joe-Emma, Kome, Efezino, Amara, Jay-Feel from Abuja, Abasiakan, Dani Angus, and Moses.
