Tenant docked for slapping landlord’s wife


Asaba – Mrs Rita Ibeanu, 31, a tenant, was on Monday arraigned at an Asaba Magistrates’ Court for slapping her landlord’s wife.
The police prosecutor, Mr Alex Ibendiogwu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 23 at Umuagwu Street, Asaba.
Ibendiogwu said that the accused, on the same day and place, allegedly assaulted Mrs Elizabeth Oduah, her landlord’s wife by slapping her causing her bodily harm.
According to him, this offence is punishable under Section 351 of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol. 1, Law of Delta State, 2006.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge, was granted bail in the sum of N20, 000 and a surety in like sum.
The magistrate, Miss Patricia Okoh, ordered that the surety should reside within Asaba and to provide proof of ownership of landed property also within the town.
She adjourned the case to June 7 for hearing. (NAN)
