GOV. OSHIOMHOLE IS LYING; Says Nigeria Police

The Nigeria Police Force on Friday debunked allegations by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State that the PDP was behind the attack on his convoy during a campaign rally on Thursday.

The Oshiomhole administration, through the state's Commissioner for Information, Louis Odion, had issues a statement claiming that the governor was attacked at Usen in Ovia South-West Local Government Area by suspected assassins who shot at the vehicles in the convoy, and had pointed accusing fingers at the PDP.

In a counter reaction, the PDP immediately issued a statement dismissing the allegation as cheap blackmail. The PDP said Oshiomhole's convoy was ambushed by protesting students, and accused the governor's security aides of killing some of the armless students.

But giving the security intelligence of the situation, Olufamous.com gathered that the State Police Command has accused the Governor of being economical with the truth. In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Anthony Airhuoyo, the command said: "On Thursday, the governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, went on a campaign tour to Usen Town in Ovia South West Area of Edo State. The governor, while on his way to the campaign venue, met the students of the Institute of Technology and Management, Usen, and promised to address them on his way back.

"After the campaign, at about 6.15pm, the governor decided to address them on a later date as it was already getting late. But the students barricaded the highway at the outskirts of the town and compelled the governor to visit their institution (as earlier promised)."

The police also added that nobody was killed in the ensuing clash between the Governor Oshiomhole's security aides and the students.
