Bomb Blast in the Federal Capital Territory Again


At about 9.30 pm in the night, on Tuesday, 3rd July, a bomb went off at a popular shopping mall known as Banex Plaza on Aminu Kano Crescent at Wuse II. One person was reported injured and have been taken to the hospital.
Members of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command who visited the scene of the incident shortly after the blast and cordoned off the place, saying they were yet to ascertain the immediate cause of the blast.
Meanwhile in a preliminary report by the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA), “About 30 minutes ago… officers of the National Emergency Management Agency received an alert over a suspected explosion at a shopping mall in Wuse II, Abuja… the officers of the search and rescue and other response agencies are now at the scene and have cordoned the area around Park & Shop and Banex Plaza.”
Also, a release from the police says: “today 3rd July 2012 at about 9:30 pm, a low level explosion went off somewhere along Aminu Kano Crescent, near Banex Plaza, Wuse 2, Abuja. A crack police team led by the Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT Command- CP Aderenle Shinaba- responded to the distress call, arriving the scene few minutes after the incident. The incident had a zero casualty record- no life lost, no person injured and no car damaged or burnt”.
