Eyewitnesses said about four gunmen inside a car and others on
motorbikes, accosted the deceased who was seated outside with his
students, before shooting him to death.
Daily Trust gathered that the assailants
ordered the students to leave the spot, after which they fired several
shots at the scholar.
A resident of the area told our
correspondent that the victim’s remains were later evacuated by the
police to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano city.
Yesterday’s attack was the first in the state since the commencement of Ramadan fast.
Kano State Police Command, in its
account of the incident through Police Public Relations Officer, SP
Muhammad Rilwan Dutse, said three gunmen had been lurking inside a car
parked outside the deceased’s house for about 30 minutes, awaiting his
return from mosque before killing him.
Dutse said the police are searching the area for possible arrest of suspects.
