Couple, 2 others arrested with Indian hemp worth N1.7m in Ibadan


Men of the Oyo State police command have arrested a couple and two others with dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp worth N1.7 million in Ibadan.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Clement Adoda, while addressing newsmen at the police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, on Friday, said that the suspects were arrested at Ojoo motor park while trying to move the illicit drug to the north.
He gave the names of the suspects as Idowu Domic, Senab Umoru, Adebowale Morounfoye and Ajoke Oyebola.
The suspects were said to have kept the substances in a shop at the motor park, while making efforts for transportation.
He said that it was when they were doing this that policemen, acting on information, rounded them up at the park.
He added that some of them had escaped when the policemen arrived at the park.
Adoda said that 17 bags were impounded from the suspects.
One of the suspects told the Nigerian Tribune that the market value of each bag was about N100,000.
