Suicide Bombers Kills 7 Military Officers In Yobe

The bombs have started going off again. From Sokoto to Yobe state, News Nigeria gathered that many are now living in fear as a result of terrorists activities.

Sources in Damaturu said seven people have been confirmed dead, while about ten others were injured, in the explosion which rocked the Yobe state capital on Sunday.

The explosion occurred when a suicide bomber driving a bomb-rigged vehicle was intercepted at a check point by officers of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the state.

Instead of subjecting his vehicle to a compulsory search by the patrol team, the bomber drove off and this led to a chase by the JTF officers. The suicide bomber detonated the bomb when the team caught up with him.

While confirming the incident, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Patrick Egbuniwe said “the lone suicide bomber detonated the bomb before the car he was in could be stopped..."

News Nigeria gathered that a civilian also died of his wounds in hospital.
