While some Nigerians are seething with anger over the 2-2 draw the Super Eagles played last weekend with the Lone Star of Liberia in Monrovia in a 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifier, others are still expressing shock that the match ended that way.
One of those still in shock is former national team captain, Chief Segun Odegbami, MON who described as “abnormal” the mere thought that “Liberia has become a threat to Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations ambition.”

Speaking with Saturday Vanguard sports at the unveiling of the Glo Soccer Academy in Lagos during the week, the former international said, “I am just shocked that we have allowed things to go as bad as to this level where Liberia can be considered a threat to us. It shows that there are so many things that we are doing that are not right and we need to look into them. If we have any problem with Liberia, then we better get rid of everybody and everything we are doing.”
Odegbami challenged the Stephen Keshi-led technical crew to sit up and ensure Nigeria got the best crop of players that could bring back the country to its right of place in international football.
“I just feel people are not satisfied with what is going on right now in the national team. It is not about the home-based or the foreign-based players. They are not just getting it right and people are agitated. We need players who are committed, who will go in there and play to win. Right now we are not just contented.”
