Christmas Day Bombings Averted As JTF Detects Planted Bombs



But for the timely detection by men of the JTF, it would have been another black Christmas in Nigeria as several bombs were strategically placed to go off by a terrorist sect. Security operatives discovered that the bombs were placed to be detonated on Christmas day after they conducted a house to house search in volatile city of Kano.
"There are desperate attempts by terrorists to instill fear on urban dwellers as most of the latest discoveries were planted in residential areas.
"The situation compelled us to embark on house to house search on suspected dark spots in the metropolis.... We have made some arrest and investigation is on and I believe that there will certainly be more discoveries."
Brigadier General Iliyasu Abba, Commandant of 3rd Motorize Brigade of the Nigerian Army, said.
