Militants under the federal government subsidy scheme have launched a protest in
Yenegoa, Bayelsa State capital. Eyewitnesses say the angry militants are setting cars on fire as they protest the government’s refusal to pay their allowances.
The militants are reportedly owed over two months’ salary, and their peaceful way of expressing their grievances to the government seemed to be ineffective. The militants seen on Otiotio road, towards Yenezue gene in the state capital are setting up barricades as they continue their protest.
One of the angry militants was quoted by an eyewitness as saying “I didn’t surrender my weapons to be treated like this. I know how much I dey make that time”.
Meanwhile, the Joint Task Force, JTF has been invited to control the situation before it goes out of hand.
