A Chimanimani man committed suicide by taking poison after discovering that his girlfriend had tested HIV-positive. Collen Munyoro from Manzou village under Chief Muusha in Chimanimani district was staying with his girlfriend when he discovered that she was HIV-positive. Munyoro stated in a letter which was found by police in his pocket that he had decided to terminate his life after discovering that his girlfriend had been concealing information about her HIV-status. Police said Munyoro was found by a passer-by writhing in agony at Muunze bus stop. He was rushed to Biriri Hospital, where he died upon admission. Manicaland deputy police spokesperson, Luxon Chananda confirmed the incident. He urged people to seek advice from elders in the community or professional counsellors when they have problems “People should value life. They should seek counselling from close relatives, elders or professional counsellors rather than resorting to suicide,” said Chananda
