Ojukwu family frowns on EFCC’s refusal to investigate estate agent

ENUGU — Board of Directors of Ojukwu Transport Limited, OTL, has expressed disappointment and surprise over the response by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to its complaint of alleged ‘fraud and obtaining by false pretences and other offences levelled against Mr. Emmanuel Omuojine, an estate agent to Bianca Ojukwu and the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
This came as a Lagos High Court, sitting in Igbosere, Lagos,  yesterday, ordered that the Originating Motion filed by Chief Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu, who claimed to be the eldest son of the late Bianfran war lord, Chief Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, be published in national dailies, for the attention of Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, 5th defendant in the suit.
OTL directors had in a letter written by their lawyer, Ifeanyi Okumah on August 5, 2012, and a reminder dated September 28, 2012, raised several issues against the property management agent and urged the Commission to investigate his activities while handling some property belonging to the company in Lagos.
The EFCC, however, turned down their request in its reply dated October 10, 2012, but was received in February 2013.
In the EFCC letter signed by one Ola Oji for the Executive Chairman, the Commission said it had “carefully reviewed the petition and has observed that the properties listed therein are already the subject matter of an inheritance war between factions of the complainants’ family.”
But reacting to the EFCC’s position, the OTL directors represented by Dr. P. Ike Ojukwu, said they were surprised that the Commission decided to look the other way while the company’s resources were being siphoned into private pockets.
The claimant had joined Ojukwu Transport Limited, Professor Joseph Okwuabudike Ojukwu, Engineer Emmanuel Ndubueze Ojukwu, Mrs Lotanna Ojukwu, Mrs Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, Mr Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Mr Patricia Ojukwu and Mrs Margret Nwagbo (NEE Ojukwu) as defendants in the suit.
