House help docked for stealing N8.2million


A 38 year old house help Faith Okon, was Monday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate court, for allegedly stealing the sum of N8.2million, belonging to one Mrs Spiff Stella Muna.
The suspect docked before Magistrate B. O Osunsanmi, is facing a two count charge of stealing preferred against her by the police.
The police prosecutor Benson Emurehi, told the court that the suspect committed the said offence on November 11, 2012, at about 4.30pm.
He alleged that the defendant stole gold jewelries valued at N8million, two HP laptops valued at N150,000 and a cash sum of N100,000, belonging to Mrs Spiff Stella Muna, at 20, Bush street Erengwa Close in Anthony Village area of Lagos.
The prosecutor said that the offence committed is punishable under section 285 (5) (f) of the criminal laws of Lagos of Nigeria 2011.
However the defendant, who resides at 32, Olorujewujeje street, Igondo, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to her.
Magistrate Osunsanmi however, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter to June 6, 2013, for trial.
