PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan met with Britain Prime Minister, David Cameron, in London, on Wednesday, ahead of the London Summit on Somalia which opens today.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, on Wednesday, said their talks focused on international security, the global war against terrorism, as well as bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade and economic development.
In brief remarks before the meeting went into a closed session, Jonathan said Nigeria would continue to collaborate with Britain and other friendly nations in the prosecution of the war against terrorism.
President Jonathan assured the British Prime Minister that Nigeria was currently doing everything to secure the release of the European nationals who were recently kidnapped near the Nigeria/Niger border.
He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to fostering and expanding trade and economic cooperation with Britain and other nations.
On his part, Cameron said it “was a huge pleasure and honour” for him to welcome Jonathan for the talks, while pledging that Britain would continue to work with the Jonathan-led administration to vigorously tackle terrorism and international security issues.
