Expect more heat in April, NIMET tells Nigerians


The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NIMET, yesterday, raised alarm over inclement weather that would disrupt flights and also affect motorists.

According to the agency, the bad weather will result from dust particles currently on their way to the northern part of the country.

General Manager, Climate, NIMET, Mr. Joseph Alozie, who stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in Abuja, added that since April was one of the hottest months in the year, especially in central and northern part of the country, there will be much heat in April, with its attendant ailments.

He said: “We are still in the Harmattan season, though we are in the transition period from the Harmattan season, so some of the episode of dust.

“The dust particles arrived from the northern part of the country and countries at our northern borders as Niger Republic, Chad Republic and the Sahara desert, so anytime this dust is raised in those areas, they are carried by the wind into the country.
