THE Enugu State Police Command has commenced full investigations into an alleged blast suspected to have resulted from the unexploded ordinance (UXO) of the Civil War.
The incident reportedly occurred about 2.30 pm on Friday at the Rice Mill area of Oye Market, Awgu.
As scaring as the incident was, no casualty was reported.
Meanwhile, officers of the Anti-bomb Squad of the Command have picked the remnant of the suspected UXO for necessary analysis. Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement yesterday that the command would, after the analysis, come up with a report.
He disclosed that because of harmful effect of the UXO, the Command had continued to warn members of the public to steer clear of them.
He warned the public to desist from such items anywhere they find them while giving the assurance that the Command would continue to promote public safety.
Several UXOs have been discovered in the state in the past one year.
