A Brazilian actor
has died 17 days after he accidentally hanged himself while re-enacting
the death of Judas Iscariot for an Easter Passion play.
Tiago Klimeck, 27, was left hanging for four minutes before his fellow
cast members realized something was wrong and intervened, according to
The Telegraph.
Klimeck was
supposed to mimic Judas Iscariot committing suicide after betraying
Jesus as part of the production. However, The Daily Mail reports the
safety vest the actor was wearing under his robe is believed to have
risen up across his neck, thus strangling Klimeck.
The actor was taken to hospital suffering from cerebral hypoxia and died
on Sunday.
BBC News reports
Brazilian police are investigating the apparatus that was meant to
support Klimeck. It appears the knot may have been tied incorrectly.
A hospital in Brazil's Sao Paulo state confirms on its website the death
of 27-year-old Klimeck. An autopsy is being performed Monday, according
to Fox News.
