Another artiste in murder case

He is popularly known as Ekwe Sample, having sung Ekwe, a hit song some years ago. The ‘rastafarian’ singer was later made a Glo Ambassador and after that nothing was heard about him.
However, there are indications that Stereoman, which is his stage name, is being detained at State CID, Panti for the alleged murder of his baby mama.
The lady, identified as Rukayat Idris, was reportedly found dead in her car under a bridge in the Mile 2 area of Lagos last month. A few days after her death, Idris’s family accused Stereoman of killing her and promptly got him arrested. The ‘couple’ were said to have lived with their daughter until the relationship ended and Idris moved out of the house alleging battering.
Stereoman is said to have denied the allegation but is awaiting result of an autopsy. With this development, the musician joins the few Nigerian artistes who have been accused of murder. A few years ago, actress Ibinabo Fiberesima was accused and later convicted for the murder and manslaughter of a medical doctor, Suraju Giwa.
Fiberesima is now a preacher having been ‘born again’ at Kiriki prison.
Another Nollywood actress, Rabi Ismaila, based in Kano, was in 2005 sentenced to death for the killing of her boyfriend, Auwalu Ibrahim in 2002. But a recent report indicates that the actress has escaped from the prison where she was detained in Jigawa State.
