Policeman found dead on Benue street

RESIDENTS of Lagos Street in the Wadata area of Makurdi, Benue State capital yesterday woke up confused as they found a middle-aged man said to be a policeman lying dead on the street.
The man who was found lying on his back with his face up and eyes open had a needle plastered on his left arm which sent indications that he might have been sick and on admission in one of the hospitals.
At the scene of the incident, some members of the crowd recognised the man to be a policeman. Some policemen who later thronged to the scene identified the deceased as Abubakar and one of their officers transferred from Nasarawa State recently.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Daniel Ezeala, confirmed the death and the victim as a policeman. He said the death would be investigated.
Ezeala confirmed to The Guardian that the late policeman was acknowledged to be sick and was taken to the hospital but disappeared from his sick bed only to be discovered dead on the street.
“He slumped and died, he was not attacked. Experts have already started investigation to ascertain the cause of his death,” Ezeala maintained.
