He warned that if the Federal Government failed to punish the perpetrators, Ndigbo might be forced to drag the Boko Haram group and Northern governments to the World Court.
Reacting to the sad incident, yesterday, in Enugu Igwekana, alleged that Ndigbo had from 1967 to date lost about two million lives to religious bigots in the North.
He expressed regrets over last Monday’s brutal massacre of Igbo people in Kano by Boko Haram and questioned the inability of the Northern governors to provide adequate security in the region.
According to him, the development was contrary to the peaceful co-existence in the South where Igbo governors had continued to maintain peace.
Igwekana wondered why Ndigbo would continue to pay the supreme price for the unity of the country, and point out that the people of the Southeast geo-political zone were gradually being eliminated in the country for unjust cause.
He said, “What we are saying is this in 2011, we formed a pressure group called “World Igbo Youths for Jonathan 2011” to support our brother in South-South. Today, Igbo nation is paying dearly for supporting the same government. Under this regime, we have lost over 2000 of our people in the hands of Boko Haram.”
“If the Federal Government wants to dialogue with Boko Haram, it is their business. But what we are saying is that the Federal Government should hold the religious sect accountable for the deaths of our brothers and sisters or we head to World Court to challenge the terrorism acts against our people.
”Christians and Igbo in particular have been the target simply because they want power in 2015. This is unacceptable to us and we will no longer fold our hands and watch them kill our people.
“Nigeria belongs to every Nigerian and no person or group of persons has monopoly of violence.
