Woman Dies After Waiting For Over One Hour in Ebute Metta’s Health Center (VIDEO)

woman(Nigerian Hospital) As she waited for help to come – she waited, and waited… until finally she could wait no longer and died.
“We waited for at least one hour before she passed on,” says Mr Goke, a Lagos banker.
When Mr Goke’s sister-in-law fell and became unconcious early this year, she was rushed to a health center in Ebute Metta. But there was no one to help her live.
(Nigerian Hospital) Hear the full story of how Mr Goke’s sister-in-law waited for over one hour for help:
“The staff were not around, there was only one doctor on seat – and there are a lot of patients sitting wanting to see the doctor,” explains Mr Goke.
It is not known whether she fell accidentally or the cause of the fall and her eventual death was part of a longer-term problem.
The healthcare system in Nigeria has largely collapsed because of widespread corruption that has starved hospitals of funds and encouraged many doctors and nurses to seek employment abroad in the West.
But Mr Goke is now sadly resigned to what happened: “There is nothing we can do … but the situation is so sad and patheitc.”
