The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has described the recent prayer session organised by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stop the second term bid of Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, as a mockery of religion.
ACN called on PDP to first of all seek God’s forgiveness for the eight years’ sins it committed against the electorate in Ogun State rather than embarking on spiritual warfare against Amosun.
An online statement signed by the state ACN Publicity Secretary, Sola Lawal, at the weekend, warned PDP to desist from such prayer, stressing that God does not honour such spiritual blackmail shrouded in falsehood.
The youths’ wing of the Engineer Bayo Dayo-led chapter of state chapter of PDP last Thursday launched a spiritual warfare to enable the party defeat Amosun in the 2015 election.
The youths, who organised themselves under the aegis of PDP National Youth Vanguard, at the one-day inter- religious prayer session, also engaged the services of both Christian and Muslim clerics who conducted more than three hours’ prayer session to enable them achieve their aim.
But reacting to the development, Lawal pointed out that it was the prayers of the electorate that “kicked out PDP’s eight years ineptitude administration which left the people of the state with indelible scars”.
He said: “The extent of bloodletting, brigandage and general atmosphere of lawlessness perpetrated by top brass in the government of PDP has never been witnessed in the state.
“It is now a comforting surprise that those who played God yesterday have not only come to realise their dispensability and limitation but also the rapacious reach of retributive justice.”
Lawal described the prayer session as an abominable act, stressing that the PDP was only evoking “divine judgement against itself for its unrighteous and evil acts perpetrated against the people of the state”.
