BENIN—FORMER Foreign Affairs Minister and national leader of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Chief Tom Ikimi, yesterday, in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, Edo State, challenged the former Chairman, Board of Trustees of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, to a debate on issues bordering on the governance of the state since 1999.
He also challenged the governorship candidate of PDP, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere, to face Governor Adams Oshiomhole in a debate, saying it was only in doing so that the people of the state would know the true pedigree of the “PDP messenger and their message” to the people of the state.
Ikimi lamented that Esan people were in bondage during the PDP administration in the state and urged them to appreciate the developmental projects being executed in their domain by the ACN-led government by voting Oshiomhole for a second term.
He said: “I have gone round with Governor Oshiomhole to campaign in Benin, Edo North and Esanland. If the PDP truly has a leader, let their leader come out to campaign. Let that leader come out and campaign with its candidate. This is an election year, campaign is talk to your people. Let us talk, it is a dialogue, that is what election is all about.
“I challenge their candidate to talk to our candidate in public. I also challenge the PDP leader to discuss with me in public. I am prepared to face the issues, this is a matter of issues.
“That is why our candidate is telling people what he has done in three and a half years. While Oshiomhole is talking about what he has done, another man is talking about what he has stolen.”
