As the total shut-down of Nigeria through a nationwide strike and rallies led by organised labour over the removal of fuel subsidy lasted, I can confirm to you that President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday met with the leadership of the National Assembly at the State House, Abuja.
Top on the agenda of the meeting, was a new and acceptable...
"compromised" price for petrol other than the current regime of between N138 to N150. It was leant that an agreement has finally been reached, courtesy of Senate President David Mark, and that President Jonathan accepted the terms on certain conditions.
One of such conditions, according to insiders, is the meeting that would follow between the David Mark-led team and the NLC/TUC-led organised labour and civil society team. It was gathered that the price may not return to N65 as expected but will end as a win-win for both parties.
It would be recalled that the leadership of the National Assembly had promised to end the strike in about 24 hours... Lets hope whatever the Senate Presid presented before organised labour will be reasonable enough to give them a reason to beat a retreat for the sake of Nigeria's corporate existence.
