ABEOKUTA – Ogun State government has denied alleged seizure of the N1billion Commercial Agricultural Credit Scheme, CACS, loan of the Central Bank, made by All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, Ogun State Chapter.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ayo Olubori while reacting to the allegation yesterday told newsmen that it became necessary for Government to put the records straight about the scheme.
AFAN had accused the government on deliberately denying its members of the grant, which had been kept in a bank in the state since last year, threatening to make the state ungovernable if the government failed to release the fund within seven days.
The commissioner said; “government is not only interested in giving out loans to farmers but would
also ensure the effective utilization and refund of the loans or grants at all times to allow for more beneficiaries.”
