Wife of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Bianca, has told the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Victor Umeh, not to destroy the legacies laid by her husband for the party.
She also warned Umeh that he could become “a king without a kingdom” if he failed to organise party convention and state congresses “as soon as possible.”
She spoke at the weekend in Enugu during a stakeholders meeting where a five-point-communiqué was issued with a resolution to restructure the party at all levels.
Although Umeh was absent from the meeting held at the GRA, Enugu residence of the late Ojukwu, she asked him to “henceforth” desist from conduct capable of destabilising APGA.
She said, “In the world today, we should be talking of peace and not war. That our chairman (Umeh) went to the press to give that kind of destabilising interview is a shame and disturbing.
“You don’t destroy something you have built, or helped to build. Let us call a spade a spade, the chairman didn’t do well and he should henceforth desist from such behaviour because he must not destroy the legacies my husband (Ojukwu) left for the party.”
The late Ikemba Nnewi’s wife wondered why APGA had only two chairmen since 1999.
She said, “I don’t know why he (Umeh) is avoiding a convention. Between 1999 to date, the Peoples Democratic Party has had nine national chairmen, but APGA has had only two. It is a shameful thing that we call APGA a national party, yet its organs are moribund.
“It would be a shame to our late national leader if we do not get things right in the party, and we can only get things right by holding our national convention and state congresses. After that, we can now talk of conducting local government elections in the states.
