Delta 2015: Urhobo, Anioma groups form alliance

THE Urhobo Political Movement, UPM, and Anioma Study Group, ASG, have formed an alliance ahead of the 2015 gubernatorial election in pursuit of their determination towards ensuring that a credible person is elected as Delta State Governor in 2015.
Briefing newsmen after a meeting of the two groups held in Ughelli, the patron of the UPM, Prof S.O Okobia, said the groups decided to form an alliance since they have a common agenda of producing a credible governorship candidate for the state in 2015.
Okobia said the UPM was prepared to come together with any group with a common objective. National Chairman of the UPM, Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi on his part, urged the people of the State to set aside tribal politics in the interest of the development of the State.
Obiuwevbi said; “we must destroy ethnic politics and work towards the enthronement of a credible governorship candidate in 2015 irrespective of his or her tribe and political party affiliation.
“I appeal to Deltans to chart a common course towards moving the state forward particularly on issues that could promote good governance in the State. These two groups have a common political ambition of lifting Delta State to a higher level of political significance. We need a candidate that will create employment for the teeming youths because there are the resources to industrialize the State.”
Also speaking with newsmen, National Coordinator of the ASG, Mr David Ashikodi said: “2015 will be a year of political revolution where a new era that will see those who had been cheated before occupying the political space in the state.
