One of Africa's brightest and famous movie personalities, Ini Edo has disclosed that she has taken a decision to be selective with future movie roles, meaning fewer movie roles and appearances for her from now onwards.
Speaking in an interview with Channel TV after the Nollywood Movies Awards nominees' party in Nigeria May 5, the actress said the move will see her featuring in “quality films” than “quantity films”.
“I just decided to do lesser films, reduce the quantity and focus on the quality of the films that I do. Basically I am not doing too many films, I am trying to do more quality films than doing more quantity films,” she said.
She indicated that the decision was personal dispelling rumours it was necessitated by her marriage life.
According to her married life, contrary to perceptions, is affecting her “positively” adding that, “it just gives me more focus to do the things that I have to do. I have an encouraging husband so it just makes it ok.” Ini Edo is married to Philip Ehiagwina.
On the issue of kissing in movies now that she is married, Ini revealed that she tries to “strike a balance” so that she does not do anything that is outside her comfort zone.
Touching on the Nollywood Movies Awards, she said she was really excited about it adding that “we need awards that we can actually hold credible in Nigeria…I want to believe that this one will actually be satisfactory to the people.”
The first edition of the awards, which will celebrate the Nigerian movie industry, is scheduled to come off on Saturday, June 2 at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
It will award excellence in 17 categories including Best Movie, Best Actor and Actress in Leading Roles and Best Directing.
For about a decade, Ini Edo boasts of appearing in about 200 movies including Rain Drops, Inale,Pleasure and Crime, Battle for Pride, Darkest Day, and Royal War.
