Farouk Lawan, Boniface Emenalo Remanded To Kuje Prison



Embattled House of Reps member, Farouk Lawan, was on Friday arraigned before an FCT High court in Abuja for bribery and corruption. The house member face seven count charge for soliciting $3 million bribe from controversial businessmanm Femi Otedola.

Farouk and Boniface Emenalo, both Chairman and Secretary of the House Ad-hoc Committee for the probe of fuel subsidy regime were on Friday arraigned for soliciting and obtaining a $620,000 bribe.

When the charges were read to them, both lawmakers pleaded not guilty to the charge. The court subsequently adjourned till February 8, 2013, to rule on the bail application moved by their lawyers led by Mr. Rickey Tarfa and Chief Mike Ozhekome, both senior advocates of Nigeria.

The court send both men to Kuje Prison pending ruling on their bail application.
