Oct 1 bombing: Court sets June 19 for trial

An Abuja Federal High Court yesterday slated June 19 for trial of one of the accused persons who was arraigned alongside Charles Okah and two others for allegedly participating in the October Independence Day bombing in Abuja.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole detached  Edmund Ebuware from the main charges after he brought an application asking to be tried separately so he can prepare for his defense.
In his application, Ebuware said being tried alongside Okah and the two others was a distraction to him.
He said he is not being charged for participating in the actual bombing, but for withholding information pertaining plans to perpetrate the act from the police.
Justice Kolawole also slated June 20, July 10, 11 and 12 for trial.
Ebuware was arraigned alongside Okah, Obi Nwabueze and Tiemkemfa Francis, but Francis died on March 2, in prison custody.
